Tucson economy: Median wage of $33K lags Western peers

Tucson’s median wage for all occupations was $33,000 in 2015, which ranked Tucson 10th among the 12 metro areas tracked on the Dashboard. Denver posted the highest median wage at $41,250, which was 25% above Tucson. The median wage in El Paso was 20% below Tucson. Occupational wages tell workers which occupations provide the largest payoff, therefore influencing residential location decisions as well as educational choices. Even after adjusting for the local cost of living, Tucson’s median wage remained relatively low, ranking 10th.
