Tucson economy: MAP Dashboard Teacher Wages

In 2015, the secondary school teacher wage for the Tucson Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) was $38,900, after adjustment for the cost of living. This ranked Tucson last among 11 peer western MSAs. Cost of living adjusted wages account for differences in the relative cost of living among metropolitan areas thus allowing for a direct comparison of how many locally priced goods and services each wage will buy. Tucson’s cost of living was 3.0% less than the U.S. average in 2015. This was relatively low compared to peer western MSAs, but not enough lower to offset low teacher pay.
