Tucson's Health: Teen Birth Rate

Teen birth rates for the Tucson Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the state of Arizona have steadily declined over the past decade. Tucson’s teen birth rate fell by 44.6 percent during this period. In 2016, Tucson’s teen birth rate of 29.9 births per 1,000 females aged 15-19 ranked seventh among peer western MSAs with Portland reporting the lowest rate and El Paso the highest. Teen parents and their children often face immediate as well as long-term impacts related to their health, education, social, and economic opportunities.
