Tucson strikes Gold in cycling! The League of American Bicyclists ranked Tucson a gold-rated community which is the second highest rating. Additionally, the 2016 Benchmarking Report from the Alliance for Biking & Walking ranked Tucson 3rd in bicycling miles per resident among the western cities explored on the MAP Dashboard. Bicycling infrastructure increases non-vehicle options for local residents therefore potentially reducing the number of vehicles on the street. Bicycling is also a healthy form of exercise that increases social interaction. The city of Tucson and Pima County are both proactive in developing and maintain a network of bike and multi-use paths.
