Tucson MSA’s median household income in 2016 was $46,764, ranking it 11th among peer western metropolitan areas. This was 15.5% lower than the nation and 8.9% below the state of Arizona. After adjusting for differences in the cost of living, Tucson remained 11.8% below the U.S. Median household income is one key measure of the economic well-being of a region, providing information about the financial resources available to households. Overall, Tucson has experienced an upward trend in inflation-adjusted median household income with a 27.2% increase between 2000 and 2016.
