Diagnosing Pima County's Health

Ever wonder what the health concerns are for Pima County residents? Or how Pima County stacks-up compared to other counties in the state? Wonder no more, Pima County has put together a comprehensive Health Needs Assessment Snapshot. According to the Snapshot, Pima County ranks at the top of Arizona for a variety of health behaviors, including teen birth rates, adult obesity, and lower infant mortality. The report also identifies four areas that need improvement: anxiety and depression spectrum disorders, substance abuse and dependency, injuries and accidents, and diabetes.

Pima County’s Health Needs Assessment Snapshot provides a more comprehensive picture of the health issues residents in the region face. The report uses secondary data from the state of Arizona to assess the status of health care in Pima County. In addition to identifying four key health priorities for Pima County, the Health Needs Assessment Snapshot provides solutions for improving these areas of concern.

The Making Action Possible (MAP) Dashboard includes several health and social well-being measures that may also be of interest to our community such as: teen birth rate, primary care access, poverty rate, housing cost burden, health insurance coverage, and cost of living. These indicators identify trends in the health and social well-being of Southern Arizona residents, while also providing a comparative analysis of Tucson to other similar metropolitan areas, Arizona counties, western states, and the U.S.
